Pints of Pimms, scrumptious strawberries, straw hats and sunblock can only mean one thing – regatta life is in full swing this summer.
Henley Royal Regatta, probably the most famous and best loved regatta in the world, burst onto the Thames at a rate of knots earlier this month with both international and domestic crews setting the pace on day one of racing.
With crews and spectators from all over the globe, HRR delivered, as always, a spectacular event and Crewroom took up its usual position in the Remenham Farm enclosure to provide retail therapy to the masses.
Last weekend, the masters crews took to the water in Henley, including our very own Kate Giles. Kate began rowing when she moved to London to attend university and, not long after she joined Thames RC, Kate started to win races, including a medal at Nationals in her first year. Due to injury and illness, Kate hung up her oars in 2001 to focus on her business venture – Crewroom.
But, 18 years after retiring, Kate picked up her blades again and got back in the boat – something she vowed to do earlier this year after missing that special connection with the water. And then, with seven other like-minded and determined individuals, Kate and her TRC crew pulled together perfectly on the day to win the Masters B 8+. Nice work Kate!
