The summer sun may be leaving us for another year, but what a summer we’ve had here at Crewroom. With back to back events we’ve been touring up and down the UK and across Europe from Oxford City Regatta to the World Rowing Championships in Austria.
And, to top off our mega month of events, last week we headed over to Hungary for the World Rowing Masters Regatta. After a long (long) drive, we pitched up lakeside in the middle of stunning natural resources and breath-taking scenery.
Lake Velence is the third largest lake in Hungary and one-third of the lake surface is covered by reed. It’s one of the warmest lakes in Europe because of the sunshine and the shallow waters with an average depth of 1.5 metres – the temperature of the water can reach 26-28 °C in summer which is positively balmy!
What followed was five days of captivating racing with over 3,800 entries representing 52 countries fighting for their place on the podium. And, with vast numbers of competitors and spectators visiting our stand, we were rushed off our feet from start to finish with product flying off the shelves – making packing up a much speedier process.
After hours, we enjoyed some down time with a cooling Borsodi beer in hand overlooking the expanse of blue water. And, we weren’t short of good company either – every evening we were joined by Stuart Little and his friends who, it seems, had a penchant for beer snacks. Next year we’ll be back on the road heading to the Rowing Masters in Linz Ottensheim, Austria. Hope to see you (and Stuart) there.
