Get your HIIT here

Fitness duo, Emily and Tiina, launched their new training session last month here at the hub and it’s proving to be a real ‘HIIT’! With a background in Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Science, Emily, our Putney Store Manager has joined forces with Tiina, Northcote Store Manager and Personal Trainer, to bring you a lean muscle workout with their high intensity interval training. The sessions are 45-60 minutes long, starting at 7.15pm on Wednesday evenings. Each class is a mixture of cardio (to increase heart rate for fat burning) followed by strength and resistance circuits (to build lean muscle). Different muscle groups are targeted each week keeping the sessions new and fresh. Your first session is FREE and £7 per session thereafter. So if you’re in the area pop along and get your first ‘HIIT’ at no charge.

Row, row, row your...WaterRower

Whether you’re training for a marathon or just trying to stay fit, introducing some form of cross training into your weekly schedule will certainly get those endorphins buzzing. Here at Crewroom we’re proud of our rowing heritage so when Crewroom founder and former elite rower – Kate Giles – had the idea to introduce the WaterRower into our stores, we knew it would fit perfectly with the Crewroom brand. The WaterRower, made famous by its appearance on House of Cards, has been designed to simulate the smooth, flowing nature of a boat gliding through water. A truly self-regulating exercise, rowing is ideal for any age or level of fitness. Combining control, strength and stamina in one complete exercise, rowing burns fat and strengthens your cardiovascular system without detrimental impact on your joints. We’ve now installed WaterRowers in our Putney High Street, Putney Embankment and Northcote Road stores where you can book a demo session and we’ll show you how to use the machine and make the most of your workout routine. If you take the plunge and make a purchase we’ll arrange the order, deliver to your home and even help you install the WaterRower. If you’re interested in booking a demo session in any of our stores, just drop us a line at enquiries@crewroom.co.uk and we’ll soon get you rowing.

Which blue are you?

Later this month will not only see the Easter bunny delivering chocolate eggs on Sunday 27th March but also Oxford’s and Cambridge’s finest battling it out on the tideway in The Cancer Research Boat Races. First raced in 1829 and 1927 respectively, Boat Races are amongst the oldest sporting events in the world. March 2016 will see the running of the 162nd Boat Race and 71st Women's Boat Race, both now taking place on the Championship Course. Watched by thousands along the banks of the Tideway, between Putney and Mortlake in London, and by millions more on TV around the world, the Boat Races are a unique sporting event. As Official Technical Kit Supplier to the event, we’ll be proudly cheering on the crews from our balcony here on Putney embankment. To celebrate the prestigious event, we’ve launched a range of official merchandise so now you can show your support to your favourite Blue! OUBC Bodyshell £45 We’ve designed this as a form-fitting garment – a contoured second skin – making this a perfect base layer for our colder months. The fabric uses our bamboo charcoal technology to keep you warm and smelling fresher for longer whilst the stretch nylon shell and raglan sleeves gives you ultimate maneuverability. We've even included a nifty triangular stretch panel in the neck to make sure you can pop it over your head nice and easily. CUBC Softshell Gilet £69 This three-layer softshell gilet is at home on the windy moors as it is when you need protection from the dullish British conditions in and around town. We’ve lovingly called this the Tea & Cake Gilet because, with a waterproof shell and fleece liner, it’s a great layer for post training whilst you warm yourself up with a mug of rosy and a slice of sponge. OUWBC Softshell Jacket (Women’s) £99 This is an all-rounder of a jacket, great for throwing on post training. The three-layer softshell will keep you warm and dry in the elements and internal wrist sleeves with thumb loops are a nice finishing touch. Reflective branding makes this product perfectly practical for outdoor adventures. CUWBC No Fuss Beanie £19 There really is no fuss. Simply put, it's a really comfortable beanie using a natural feel, stretch fabric which will keep you warm!

Anna's social adventure

Last month we reported that friend and Crewroom Ambassador, Anna McNuff, was heading out of her back gate on her latest adventure which would be completely directed by her social media followers via a vote system. Well, we’re pleased to report that her adventure has, as expected, been an adventure! Starting out on 16th February, her social media followers voted that her first destination was Harwich sea port. Using leg power only (both walking and cycling) Anna picked up a few blisters and made her way to the coast before voters sent her on a ferry to Utrecht in Holland. There she followed the winding canals and indulged in some local Dutch pancakes along the way. Then on to the forests of Apeldoorn to enjoy the beautiful scenery before the vote sent Anna and her wheels to follow the Rhine all the way to Mannheim in Germany and onto the Black Forest. The small issue of heavy snow and blizzard conditions altered Anna’s route a tad so she headed towards Lake Constance in Switzerland. After exploring the scenic lakes she is now headed to Geneva in the last leg of her month long adventure which ends on 13th March. Along the way Anna has managed to throw in a couple of inspirational talks at local schools and has inspired all of us yet again. So, on what has just been International Women’s Day where we celebrate the truly inspirational women in our lives, we take our hats off to you Miss McNuff!
